Week nine got off to a shocking start as Friday night football across the state of Ohio was filled with plenty of upsets, particularly in Division I.

Several ranked and/or previously unbeaten teams in the state fell prey to the upset bug, causing a lot of moving and shaking in the computer point standings.

Michigan's Inkster High School did what 67 teams before them were unable to do: defeat Steubenville in a regular season contest. Inskter also snapped Steubenville's 53-game home winning streak dating back to 2001.

Despite facing a three-point halftime deficit, Inkster built a 28-15 fourth quarter lead and was able to hold off a Steubenville team that entered ranked second in the state in Division III.

Steubenville's dynamic senior quarterback Dwight Macon nursed an undisclosed injury during the third quarter when Inkster built their lead. However, Macon returned in the fourth quarter to stage an impressive comeback. The Big Red recaptured the lead at 29-28 with 1:19 left.

However, University of Michigan-bound Inkster quarterback Devin Gardner silenced the raucous "Death Valley" crowd with a poised drive capped off by a 63-yard touchdown pass with 34 seconds left, his second of the night. He finished with 288 passing yards.

Steubenville's last drive was promising, but thwarted by a Inkster interception in the endzone as time expired.

Wayne quarterback Braxton Miller ripped off a 47-yard touchdown run just 38 seconds into the game and the Warriors never looked back, hammering Centerville (7-2), the eighth-ranked team in Division I.

Centerville was able to fight back and knot the game at 14 apiece in the second quarter, but Wayne (6-3) dominated the second half, outscoring the Elks 28-7 in the final 24 minutes. Miller rushed for 176 yards and four touchdowns and added 160 passing yards and a score.

With the win, Wayne moves into prime playoff contention while Centerville, who entered sixth in Region 4, put their hopes in jeopardy.

Big plays were the story in this monumental Region 1 matchup. But it was Parma who made the bigger plays, holding off North Royalton and handing the Bears' their first loss of the season. With the win, Parma (7-2) should accrue enough computer points to enter the top 8 of Region 1.

Parma quarterback George Blake tossed two touchdown passes, including a 71-yarder that gave the Redmen a lead they would never relinquish.

Some may argue this wasn't an upset, but the computer point standings and various state polls would say otherwise. Colerain (7-2) handed Middletown (8-1) their first loss of the season and kept their playoff hopes alive.

Greg Tabar booted 25-yard field goal early in the third quarter to break a 7-7 tie and it was all Colerain would need. The defense did the rest behind LB Jarrett Grace. His interception with under two minutes remaining thwarted a Middletown drive near midfield and secured the victory.

The victory was Colerain's 53rd consecutive home win.

Canton McKinley 28 Youngstown Boardman 10

McKinley used two fourth quarter touchdowns to pull away from Boardman and secure an important upset win. Boardman (6-3) hurt their playoff chances in Region 1 while McKinley kept their faint postseason hopes intact for a Region 2 berth.

Angelo Powell caught a 73-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth to give the Pups a 21-10 lead and Elijah Farrakhan put it out of reach with a 13-yard touchdown run.

Both Powell and Farrakhan each scored two touchdowns Farrakhan had 11 carries for 82 yards, also scoring on a six-yard run. Powell caught three passes from quarterback Kyle Ohradzansky totaling 104 yards. The duo also hooked up for a 20-yard TD connection in the first quarter.
