Saba receives first offer

Things are just getting started for Cleveland (Ohio) Benedictine's class of 2016 standout cornerback Warren Saba, but the future looks bright. The 5-foot-9, 170 pound defensive back has turned a lot of heads during Benedictine's run to the state championship and the subsequent offseason, and his hard work was rewarded with an Eastern Michigan offer. Eastern Michigan marks the first school to extend Saba a scholarship, but much of the MAC has been in contact.
The moment where he earned his first offer was one of nearly unparalleled happiness for the rising senior.

"Yesterday, I was in the car with my dad [when Eastern Michigan offered] and I was just extremely happy," Saba said. "I have to put it right after winning a state championship. It has to be the second happiest moment of my life."

Of course, it wasn't just the fact that it was a scholarship offer that made Saba so thrilled. Eastern Michigan is a program the northeast Ohio native has grown very fond of during his recruitment.
"[Eastern Michigan] is a program on the rise. Talking with the coaches yesterday, I thought that all of them had a good head on their shoulders and all of them were looking for a positive start," explained Saba. "Everybody was upbeat, extremely happy, and just ready to get at it."
Saba has plans to visit Eastern Michigan, Kent State, and Toledo this spring. He also added that those are the three schools currently recruiting him the hardest. What does he think of the other two MAC programs coming after him right now?
Kent State - "Kent State, when I went down there, all of the coaches were preaching about their family atmosphere, and that's what I'm looking for. Going to Benedictine, we pride ourselves on family and respect there, so I like that family atmosphere at Kent State."
Toledo - "Toledo, it's kind of the same thing [with the family environment]. My head coach at Benedictine used to coach at Toledo, so we've got a little connection there. They know where I come from and they understand my position, so I like Toledo. The coaches were fun and I loved interacting with them and I feel like I can relate to them."
Saba works hard in the offseason with conditioning and weightlifting to improve his game, as well as training with Mark Harris' Raw Talent Sports in Cleveland. The thirst to improve however, does not mean he's unsure of his game as it stands today. Saba plays every down with confidence.
"I get at it. I'm very aggressive," Saba said. "I don't care for anybody out there on the field. I don't care who you are, what your name is, what your ranking is, I'm going to get at you, and that's how I play. I play with a lot of swag and confidence."
