Lloyd picks Cincinnati
John Lloyd turned in a strong senior season and the 6-foot-2, 225-pounder from Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio caught the attention of plenty of college football coaches.
But, for punters and kickers, the recruiting process rarely follows the same path as it does for other position players. Specialists typically are an afterthought for college coaches, thus offers come late in the process.

That's exactly what happened for Lloyd, who picked up his first scholarship offer last week when Louisville extended an offer. This weekend, Lloyd picked up his second during an official visit to Cincinnati.
He committed to the Bearcats a short time after his visit.
"I actually had left without committing but I made my mom turn around 10 minutes into the drive home because I knew that's where I wanted to go," said Lloyd, who averaged 44 yards per punt on his way to earning all-state, all-district and all-conference honors for the second straight year.
Former Cincinnati assistant Tim Hinton began recruiting Lloyd. Kerry Coombs took over when Hinton departed for Notre Dame. That didn't matter, as Lloyd felt drawn to the Bearcats' program.
"I felt right at home with the new coaches," Lloyd said.
Lloyd said several things helped the Bearcats earn his commitment.
"I just really felt comfortable at UC and once I got to know the coaching staff, and more importantly the players, I realized I couldn't pass up joining a family like that one," he said. "I know I made the right choice."
