Five Ohioans land in Rivals100

The state of Ohio typically is well represented in the national recruiting rankings and the class of 2011 maintained that standard as five Buckeye-state prospects landed on the Rivals100, released Tuesday afternoon.
Leading the way was Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary cornerback Doran Grant. The 5-foot-10, 171-pounder checked in at No. 23. The four-star prospect was named the defensive backs MVP at the State College Nike Camp earlier this spring and is ranked by OhioVarsity.com as the No. 1 defensive back in the state of Ohio. He received a 6.0 ranking.

Centerville defensive tackle Michael Bennett also earned a top 30 ranking. The 6-foot-3, 275-pound Ohio State commit checked in at No. 30 and also received a ranking of 6.0. OhioVarsity.com ranked Bennett as the No. 2 offensive lineman in the state. He could be a force on either side of the ball.
Ohio State added another commitment to the Rivals100 at No. 46 where Toledo Whitmer's Kenny Hayes was slotted. Ranked as the No. 3 defensive lineman in Ohio by OhioVarsity.com, Hayes received a ranking of 5.9.
The only offensive player from Ohio to make the Rivals100 is Wayne quarterback Braxton Miller, also the No. 1 quarterback in Ohio according to OhioVarsity.com. While many in the Buckeye state will be surprised Miller checked in at No. 56 and didn't earn a five-star ranking or land in the nation's top 10, the answer probably lies in the fact that he skipped the Elite 11 Regional Camp held at Ohio State earlier this spring. That would have provided Miller with the perfect setting to answer any questions about his footwork and throwing mechanics.
Holding down the No. 93 spot, and the final Ohioan to make the Rivals100, is Springfield linebacker Trey DePriest, OhioVarsity.com's top linebacker in the state. DePreist posted over 100 tackles as a junior last fall.
