Education first for Daramy

Perhaps one of the biggest steals leading up to National Signing Day on Wednesday won't be pulled off by an FBS program as the Yale Bulldogs have landed a pledge from Westerville (Ohio) South athlete Abu Daramy. The 5-foot-9, do-it-all athlete projects as either a slot receiver or a defensive back at the next level.

"After my academic decision was down to Air Force, Navy, and Yale, I know I couldn't go wrong," said Daramy. "I let God decide and I asked him to give me signs and my mother and I had the same dream and God has never led me in the wrong direction and he wouldn't do it now so I trusted that and committed."

The three-star prospect held offers from nine FBS programs, including several Mid-American Conference schools but the Ivy League education was simply too much to pass up.

"Academics are very important to me because less than one-percent (of college athletes) make it to the NFL," he explained. "I had to make sure that I have a degree that can set me up for life outside of football."

Daramy is rated the No. 47 prospect in the state of Ohio for the 2015 recruiting class by Rivals.com.
