Asamoah impresses in opener

Asamoah made plays on both defense and offense in DeSales' opening win.

The Columbus (Ohio) DeSales program has been churning out Division I talent for years and the class of 2018 is going to be a strong one for the Stallions. Junior linebacker/running back Brian Asamoah made big plays on both sides of the ball in a season opening win over Lancaster.

"We haven't won a season opener in five years," said Asamoah. "It's great winning it at home especially with what happened last year, losing to them at their home. We have a great team right now and we're looking to go really far this year."

Asamoah, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound prospect, is already hearing from a few Division I programs, most notably Louisville. Asamoah has already visited and will be back again in the fall.

"I took a visit to Louisville and I'm also going to be going to the Louisville vs. Florida State game," he said. "I'm also talking to Miami (Ohio) and I'm going to a game there. I'm also going to Purdue."

The first visit to Louisville left a good impression on the versatile athlete and he's looking forward to getting back.

"Louisville was a great time, I had a terrific time over there," he recalled. "They have nice facilities. It was just an amazing place to be at."

As for where he best projects in college, there is plenty of time left to figure that out but one school definitely likes him on defense.

"Coach Hauser from Miami (Ohio), he likes me at linebacker," he explained. "I think I'm a pretty good linebacker so I can't wait to go forward with playing linebacker and also playing offense at slot running back."
