NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The Lakewood St. Edward basketball team shook off a slow start and played some lock down defense in the second half as they defeated Cincinnati Walnut Hills 64-53 on Sunday at the Dunk4Diabetes Shootout at Walsh University.

Kipper Nichols finished with 20 points and eight rebounds for St. Ed's and Marsalis Hamilton pitched in with 15 points and six rebounds. Sophomore post Derek Funderburk added seven points and seven rebounds in a strong performance that has since led to an offer from Ohio State.

For Walnut Hills, guard MaCio Teague led the way with 27 points, including 5-for-7 from three-point range. He was the only Walnut Hills player to score in double figures.
