Ohio's 2013 class is loaded with explosive athletes and one of the fastest is Cleveland Heights wide receiver Shelton Gibson. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound prospect had a huge opening weekend in a 54-0 win over Columbus (Ohio) Walnut Ridge. Gibson notched 211 yards receiving, including a 90-yard touchdown. For Gibson, the big opener was a major relief as he finally feels completely healthy after breaking his leg last year.

"I had broke my leg last year so when I came back I didn't really have the speed that I'm used to having," Gibson explained. "I worked on everything during track season and during the summer when we were going to the camps and I got better with my routes and stuff so I guess that's where it started as far as getting back to where I was (before the injury)."

Gibson toured a lot of southern campuses over the summer and by all accounts turned heads at just about every single one. Gibson ran a 4.36 40-yard dash at Duke and the Blue Devils didn't hesitate to offer a scholarship.

"I went to five camps," he explained. "We went on this camp trip and we went to Duke, Wake Forest, North Carolina, North Carolina State, and East Carolina. I also went to Auburn's camp."

Perhaps Gibson's most impressive performance came at Duke where he ran a 4.36 40-yard dash. The Blue Devils didn't hesitate to offer a scholarship.

"I have three (verbal) offers," Gibson said. "Duke, East Carolina, and Bowling Green, I had got Bowling Green when I was in like the 9th grade."

Gibson's offer list should explode in the near future once some junior film gets out and there are a handful of schools ready and waiting to see it.

"I've been getting a lot of interest from schools," he explained. "Wisconsin, Ohio State, Auburn, West Virginia, Michigan State, there's some more but that's all I can think of right now."

Gibson's teammate, class of 2012 offensive tackle Kyle Dodson, is committed to Wisconsin and Gibson has liked what he has seen from the Badgers so far.

"I had went up there (to Madison) when Kyle had first went up there," he said. "I checked out the campus and everything and it was cool. I really liked it up there and I think Kyle is a good teammate so if I was to go to Wisconsin, I think I could have fun up there with Kyle and everything."

Another school Gibson is interested to learn more about is Ohio State.

"I have a lot of interest in Ohio State," he said. "I've heard a lot of stuff about them or whatever but I've tried to look over that. Even though their head coach is gone and they had a lot of trouble last year, I still want to go on a visit and check out the school and everything."

While it's still very early, three additional schools are also standing out to the big-time speedster.

"Right now Oregon, Auburn, and the University of Florida (are his favorite schools)," Gibson said. "I really want to go to like a speed school so that's why I like (those schools)."
